A Continued Streak of Success: 19 Salama Players Make it to 2024 Kenya National Schools Chess Championship

Just before Kenyan schools break for the rest of August, 19 Salama players hailing from 7 affiliated schools delivered over-the-board outstanding results that served as a testament to their chess prowess and perseverance. By scoring 2.5 points or above at the regional tournament, they qualified for the 2024 Kenya National Schools Chess Championship (KNSCC), showcasing their talents and skills at the national level.

The tremendous growth of the game within the Salama community made this year another great success in terms of chess performance. The chess club at Salama Gachie Community School has seen participation almost doubled; at the alumni schools, Salama graduates are now leading or creating their own clubs. Last year, 7 Salama players qualified for the National Schools and debuted on the national stage; this year, the number nearly tripled!

Below is a summary of the brilliant performance of Salama players at the regional and the national tournaments.
