Founded by Woman International Master Ellen Wang, Chess Through Challenges Inc. (CTC) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization officially registered in 2021. Striving to address the societal challenges of gender disparity, economic disadvantage and social exclusion within and beyond chess communities worldwide, CTC utilizes and innovates around the intellectual and social power of chess. Through initiatives and collaborations, CTC endeavors to empower girl players and close the gender gap in the game of chess, and to introduce chess to underprivileged youth as an educational tool and a social venue. It also aspires to promote the youth representation especially girls’ involvement in chess journalism to help build a more inclusive chess world with greater diversity.
